Beverley Cornell
Beverley Cornell is a Yass artist that has spent many years traveling and documenting Australian landscapes.
Her paintings have been shown across the country.
Her work was selected by Swan Hill Gallery to celebrate the 150 year anniversary of the Burke and Wills expedition. Bev has retraced the route of the famous explorers not once but twice, utterly immersing herself in the country, using a ‘plein air’ technique to create the artworks.
She has won many awards during the course of her career, including the Echuca Golden Anniversary, Lockhart Spirit of the Land, Emerald Qld Portrait Prize, and the Coolamon Landscape Prize.
Bev has contextualised her career primarily through traveling, collecting stories from local residents and portraying them in her art.
Over the years Bev has completed many series of works, including ‘Narrandera Local Portraits’, where the portraits were donated to the town to raise funds for elderly residents.
Most recently, Bev has painted Yass, highlighting some of the magnificent aspects of the town in her unique and experienced style.
