Bravo Domino

Bravo Domino is an expressionist and abstract artist from Sydney, of Filipino and Irish descent.

She is strongly influenced by street art, neo-expressionism, contemporary abstract art, and her background as a singer-songwriter. Her lyrics and poetry feature regularly in her pieces, often as the featured subject and sometimes hidden discreetly in the detail.

“I love art that clashes heavy sentiments with light, playful elements, and whimsical undercurrents. A little bit goofy, a little bit dark, always very personal,” she says.

Her work features a dynamic dichotomy of solid, block colours and heavily textured brush strokes creating fluctuating moments of elation and serenity. Her bold landscapes celebrate the natural geometry of terrain, cleverly dissecting surface and space with line work and a strong sense of colour. Domino creates a world that feels like a dreamscape in an 8-bit universe.

Bravo is also a digital pattern maker for textile and graphic design. Using photographed details of her paintings, her prints are an electric blend of analogue textures and digital distortions.

Bravo’s work was featured in the group show Living in Another World at Tyger.
