“I am a collage artist working from a studio in Collingwood, Melbourne.
“I draw inspiration from the landscape and my many years spent in Ireland. I also draw inspiration from my music studies and work teaching music in early childhood.
“I would describe the work I make as taking an idea and expressing it in its simplest, most core form. I have spent most of my career taking complex musical ideas and breaking them down so that children understand them. I have often had adults come to me after class and say, "I never really understood what rhythm was until that simple explanation." I am so moved by that process that I continue it in my visual art. There is a big difference between childish and childlike, children are the most intelligent people I know. I want my viewers to see simplified clear ideas and smile while connecting with simplicity.
“I have made collage for 30 years to explore and support my music studies but during the pandemic this evolved into daily practice. I have since moved into a studio and expanded my practice.”
