Jenny Blake
Jenny Blake
Artist Jenny Blake - photo by Adam McGrath.
Jenny Blake grew up in regional New South Wales where she was encouraged to play, explore, and investigate nature.
The common theme in her work is the vulnerability and fragility of nature and people. Her work highlights many of the pressing issues of our times, climate change, waste, and land degradation.
Blake uses a mix of non-traditional and traditional painting tools, creating layers, peeling back, and adding further layers to create. She creates landscapes by building and eroding them away.
Over the last fifteen years, she has exhibited her work in several group shows and eight solo shows. Blake completed A Diploma of Visual Arts, with High Distinction at CIT Canberra 2017, winning the Graduates Emerging Artist prize and the Professional Practice prize. In 2021 Blake’s work was selected in the Salon des Refuses Lethbridge Prize.
Blake has a studio in the leafy Suburb of Holder, Canberra
