Ning Clark

Ning Clark is a self-taught artist who lives and manages their farm and gardens in Murrumbateman, New South Wales. She uses acrylic, gouache, and recently oils as well. She also tries mixed media.

She finds her inspiration from working on their property: the scenery, livestock, pets, baking, domestic scenes (mostly in her kitchen where her collection of local artist artwork and hers are displayed) and her love of gardening.

Her work in ‘Make’  is influenced by her observations of the four seasons in Australia that she now calls home. Moving from the Philippines in 2007, she discovered that there’s another two beautiful seasons with lots of colours, textures, and extreme temperatures!

Her paintings here are inspired by walking through the paddocks and wandering around with her four pet dogs (usually two at a time) in the garden. Along the way she usually gathers flowers to make bouquets to put throughout the homestead to welcome her family, friends, and her B&B guests.

The paintings are of flowers from her garden. She loves arranging them in “a chaotic way” which is still pleasing as the beauty of the flowers gives them their natural charm.

“Each season has its own presents to give,” says Ning.

“You just have to be thoroughly aware and feel their presence to appreciate the colours, textures, smell, taste, and emotions that they give you. Mother Nature is so amazing whatever season it is.”

“I originally came to Australia from a beautiful two seasons tropical country. Moving to a four season country is such an adjustment at first, especially the winter! But all the seasons have their beauty. And how lucky I am that there are another extra two seasons that I didn’t know existed before! There are so many beautiful plants, trees, and flowers to plant, grow and gather!”
