Artist Stephanie Corkhill Hyles.
Stephanie Corkhill Hyles
Stephanie Corkhill Hyles has been creating since she was small, encouraged by her parents. As number 8 of 10 children, she was surrounded by the arts and lived on a sheep and wool property at Boorowa, NSW.
“My beautiful mother used to cover our small hall walls with brown paper and change it regularly to encourage us to draw. She must have got sick of us drawing on the walls!,” she says.
She went on to study Art Education at COFA UNSW, majoring in painting and etching.
“I loved this experience and have since absorbed myself in a full art practice, creating most days. I am inspired by my surroundings, my experiences and music. I love colour and the joy that it brings!”
Graduating in 1997 from COFA UNSW with an Art Education degree, Steph went on to embrace the ‘full’ life that being creative had to offer.
Over the last 26 years she has had 18 Solo Exhibitions and exhibited in many group shows throughout NSW, QLD and ACT. She sells her pieces at the Longtrack Pantry in Jugiong, via her website and through social media.
“I have taught art and wellbeing in schools as well as private workshops for the last 25 years and have really tried to inspire and encourage the magic that creativity can bring into your life,” she says.
“My art is my voice when words fail me and it lifts and heals me, which I am forever grateful for.”
