Artist Kasey Robinson is one of the amazing artists taking part in Make at Tyger.

How well do you know your home? Is what you see around you everyday familiar, or can you still sense its wonder and surprise as if you were seeing it for the first time?

Kasey Robinson’s brilliant work for the upcoming show Make at Tyger brings a touch of intrigue along with a detailed eye to the perfectly familiar and familiarly comfortable.

Kasey is one of six artist friends taking part in the show, which opens at Tyger on Saturday 18 November. She is joined by Sara Phemister, Stephanie Corkhill Hyles, Ning Clark, Nicole Cosgrove, and Sally Rasmussen for Tyger’s final group show of 2023.

Her gorgeous work tells two distinct stories, as she explains.

“I've created two mini series of work for Make,” she says.

“One is a series of interiors inspired by my home and infused with myths and the untold stories of the powerful female ‘witch’. Each piece features a treasured object, with its own story to tell.”

“The other is a celebration of the everyday quilt. The making, the maker and the use.”

Kasey creates her art from a second floor studio in Yass where the morning light streams through period arched windows. It’s a beautiful creative space, “where coffee and croissants are close by, and live music shares its energy”.

She is a multi talented artist who has explored textiles, ceramics, printmaking and - in her work in Make - painting.

“I would describe my work as evolving,” she says.

“Shifting and expanding themes, but retaining a feminine, vintage, slightly worn and wonky aesthetic. It’s usually colourful.”

She says she is looking forward to seeing people’s responses to the show and excited to be able to exhibit with a group of close friends.

“It's a real joy to get together to plan an exhibition, and to work on it with each other in mind. I love the magic that happens when our work is brought together.”

Make has its opening celebrations on 18 November, 2-4pm at Tyger Gallery in Yass. The show runs until 3 December. The gallery is open 10-4pm, Friday to Sunday.
