“I hope [viewers of the work] see a glimmer. A small moment of joy. A memory conveyed, intuitively and with heart.” Rachel Moodie
Tyger is thrilled to welcome back to the gallery the outstanding Southern Highlands-based artist Rachel Moodie for our upcoming abstract landscapes show, Living in Another World.
The show brings together around 40 artists from all over the country to show us the world we know and love through an abstracted lens.
Living in Another World runs from 19-28 April at Tyger Gallery in Yass. The online catalogue for the show will go out to subscribers soon. Sign up here now to make sure you don’t miss out on your favourite works.
Rachel’s beautiful work in the show is Legends, Fables, Tales - a series of four small mixed media abstract landscapes framed together. It’s a beauty.
Ahead of the show opening Rachel told us about creating landscapes from memory, the wonder of teaching kids art, and small moments of joy.
How would you describe your work?
“Abstract, expressive and intuitive landscapes.”
Tell us about where and how you create your work?
“I create work from my little home studio. I tape up some paper and create these landscapes from memory. I work intuitively reaching for certain mediums or colours on a whim.”
What inspires you?
“The natural world. Serendipity. Other worldly signs. The process of turning nothing into something. And teaching kids art. Seeing them discovering an artform they love is the best medicine.”
What do you hope people feel when they see your work?
“I hope they see a glimmer. A small moment of joy. A memory conveyed, intuitively and with heart.”
Register now for our opening celebrations of Living in Another World - Saturday 20 April, 2-4pm.
