Boundless

Woman of the South

Woman of the South (Natalie Childs) is an artist living on Yuin Country on the NSW South Coast, with kinship ties to the Bundjalung Nation. Based in her studio gallery in Milton, NSW, her practice is a deeply personal exploration of belonging, memory, and the spiritual connection between land and sky. Natalie's work captures the ever-changing landscapes of both earth and cosmos, reflecting the stories, energy, and ancestral ties that shape her perspective.

"As an artist deeply connected to the rhythms of nature and the ancestral ties of my heritage, my work has always been a reflection of the landscapes that surround me. In Boundless, I turn my gaze upward, drawing inspiration from the vast expanse of the night sky," she says.

"The night sky, with its infinite tapestry of stars, has been a source of wonder and guidance for countless generations. For me, it symbolises both the limitless possibilities of the universe and the deep connections to my ancestors who are now in these stars, looking down over us."

"In Boundless, I explore the connection between earth and sky, star and space, infinity and freedom. Each piece is an invitation to journey beyond the immediate, to contemplate the mysteries of the cosmos, and to find one's own place within it."

"Through this collection, I invite the viewer to reflect on their own relationship with the night sky and the boundless opportunities that it represents for them also."
