"I keep coming back to this garden. It is not a real place, it is an imagined space.”
“A secret inner garden where my childhood memories mix with daily experiences. It is a safe space where everything belongs. It's the kind of place where cabbages chatter and cauliflowers dance for joy.”
“This is one corner of the garden, and I have a strong feeling there is much more I haven't yet uncovered. But that's what painting is for.”
“I’m referencing my mother's garden full of bulbs. Mr Macgregor's veggie garden where Peter Rabbit used to play.”
“My mother-not-in-law's garden where I'm currently living from, which I steal parsley and rosemary for stew. A garden of my very own that I will grow one day, full of herbs and strawberry bushes and chickens."
Ineka Voigt, 2024.
