Karen lives and works in Bega, NSW. Karen began painting in 2018, having been a horticulturist, landscape designer and writer of fiction.
She is primarily a painter on board and canvas, as well as a block and monotype printer.
Her subjects are usually nature-based, encompassing landscapes, still life and botanical studies. Still life form is a favourite, created from compositions of plants she has grown herself, along with personal objects collected throughout her life.
Karen’s art practice provides the imaginative material and scope for varied, self-led explorations in the fields of philosophy, psychology and the study of human nature and connectivity, all of which fascinate Karen.

"This still-life was inspired by a collaboration with my son, who creates terrariums.”
“I had an empty terrarium against the wallpaper in my home, which interacted with the light and foliage in mesmerising ways, holding my attention while I painted different versions at different times of the day, each with distinct moods.”
“This painting brought the atmosphere of the book Wuthering Heights to my mind; a complex relationship arising from simple beginnings, building to an abundant wealth and heightened state."
Karen Sedaitis, 2024.
