Still Life Drawing

Join artist Alan Harding at Tyger Gallery on Sunday 7 April, 2-4.30pm for a Still Life Drawing Workshop.You’ll learn how to develop a composition, look at negative spaces in and around objects, and use drawing techniques such as hatching, shading and blending.

What you’ll get

  • Warm up with sketches using a continuous line and blind contour drawing.

  • Gradually build composition as you draw. Participants will take turns to add an object to the composition.

  • Start to develop your composition by blocking out main shapes lightly.

  • Learn to look at negative spaces - the shapes in and around objects. Build your skills in eveloping tonal values / textures drawing through seeing light and drawing shade.

  • Use techniques with drawing media such as hatching, cross hatching, shading and blending, working on mid toned paper, and using coloured media.

  • A warm Tyger welcome in a friendly gallery. Plus refreshments!

  • None at all! This course will take you through the basics, while also upskilling those with a bit more experience.

  • We’ll supply everything you need. You just need to turn up and take part.

  • Alan Harding is a hugely-talented Yass-based artist. He recently held a show at Tyger Gallery, On Table and Street.

  • Everyone has to start somewhere! (And also you won’t be terrible) Alan will take you through the skills you need to start your journey of still life drawing.

  • The workshop takes place at Tyger Gallery on Sunday 7 April from 2-4pm. Tyger Gallery is at 84 Comur Street, Yass - part of the Memorial Hall in the centre of town.

  • You can cancel up to 5pm on 3 April and get a refund. Cancellations after that date won’t be refunded.
