Beverly is a Cootamundra-based artist producing superb work from locally-gathered materials including native grasses, pine needles and found objects using weaving, coiling and eco dyeing to transfer the colour and marks of the terrain to her work.

Her work in in our show Textured Earth was a crowd favourite with gallery visitors, and we're absolutely delighted to welcome her back.

Her work in Life in Colour is The Gathering Moss Series PineNeedle basket - a truly beautiful fibre and textile piece.

Ahead of the show opening, Beverly told us about being inspired by mossy forest floors, glimpsing micro worlds of wonder in the natural world, and what she hopes people feel when they see her work.

What's the story with the piece in Life in Colour?

"My moss covered basket was inspired by Jindalee National Park, a place where the forest floor is cool, tranquil and blanketed in parts with vibrant green moss. Lichens cling to rocks and create subtle patterns on tree bark."

"This natural environment with its textures and quiet serenity speaks to me and I strive to capture this often unnoticed beauty in my work. I invite my audience to share the connection I feel with this place and offer a glimpse into the micro world of wonder I have discovered there."

What inspires you?

"The beauty of the natural world."

What do you hope people feel when they see your work?

"A connection to the world of nature and the richness of life in these small details of moss and lichens."

Register for the opening celebration of Life in Colour on Saturday 16 November here.
