Dotti is a Cootamundra-based artist and a favourite of Tyger Gallery visitors following her appearances in our shows Textured Earth and Living in Another World. Her lovely, often semi abstract works, are full of energy and movement.

We absolutely LOVE her work.

Ahead of the show opening, Dotti told us about creating a comfortable space to paint in, what inspires her, and what she hopes people feel when they see her work.

Where do you create your work?

"I work in my home studio which opens out to the garden l have created. I like the tranquility, the seasonal sounds of the bird life and the evolving colours and forms. Sometimes l enhance my mood with music. It’s a comfortable space with my favourite three chairs sofa and two easels."

How do you create your work?

"Initially from drawings, at times inspired from memories and my immediate environment. Sometimes I create several draft compositions in acrylic paint, and other times l can’t wait to cover the canvas or wood panel and just go for it."

What inspires you?

"I would definitely say my immediate environment, including the natural environment."

What do you hope people feel when they see your work?

"A sense of engagement, to read and be drawn into, around and through the imagery."

Register for the opening celebration of Life in Colour on Saturday 16 November here.
