"I don’t own a pet, so I paint them!” Fika Karnadewi

The brilliant Sydney-based artist Fika Karnadewi is part of our upcoming show, Life in Colour.

We are thrilled to welcome Sydney-based artist Fika Karnadewi for our upcoming show, Life in Colour.

The show brings together more than 30 incredible artists from all over the country.

Celebrate Life in Colour with us and many of the artists on Saturday 16 November from 1pm. Register for this FREE event here, and pop your contact details on the mailing list to get early pre-sales access.

Fika's fun and whimsical work celebrates her love of animals, food and drinks, with a goal of bringing warmth to interiors and smiles to faces.

Her work in the show - Weekend Buzz - is an absolute beauty. We love it - and are so delighted to have her in Life in Colour.

Ahead of the show opening, Fika told us about why the Frenchie is her favourite animal to paint, and art that makes people smile.

How do you create your work?

"I’m a full timer but I love to spend my weekend painting cute animals and with delicious food and drinks."

What's the story behind Weekend Buzz?

"I don’t own a pet, so I paint them! The Frenchie is one of the most enjoyable animals to paint. Their expression, colour and personality are what I’m trying to capture through humorous stories."

What inspires you?

"I'm inspired by the art of storytelling through arts, but also to make work that's a central piece for connection. Arts that put smiles on faces and gives a topic to talk about among your family and friends."

What do you hope people feel when they see your work?

"I hope it puts smiles on their faces and gives warmth over gathering at your own home."

Register for the opening celebration of Life in Colour on Saturday 16 November here.
