Greta is a Tasmania-based artist whose gorgeous, evocative paintings beautifully blend abstract forms with colourful patchwork landscapes. Her work was a gallery visitor favourite in our group show, Living in Another World, and we're absolutely thrilled to welcome her back.
Her work in Life in Colour is the stunning Dingo Country - an acrylic and oil stick beauty.
Ahead of the show opening, Greta told us about transferring energy onto canvas, how nature flows into her work, and what she hopes people feel when they see her beautiful work.
Where do you create your work?
"My sunny home studio beside the sea. A colourful, inviting space filled with salty air and treasures foraged from my daily ritual beach walks. You will often find my son who is home schooled painting beside me."
How do you create your work?
"I work intuitively, my work builds in layers reflecting my emotions, surroundings and my past experiences. The way energy transfers from me onto the blank canvas for the viewer to absorb and enjoy never ceases to amaze me!"
What inspires you?
"I begin every day by watching the sunrise, and from that moment onwards I’m in constant awe of Mother Nature and the magic she holds. Colour, composition, texture, changing of the seasons, fauna and flora it is all a part of me and flows into my work."
What do you hope people feel when they see your work?
"I hope people connect with my work on a deeper level transcending space and time. I hope they feel a true sense of my relationship with the Australian outback and the energy it holds."
