Kurri Kurri-based painter Montanna Beavis will be one of the incredible artists in Tyger’s upcoming group show, Living in Another World.

Tyger is thrilled to welcome the rising star Kurri Kurri-based artist Montanna Beavis to the gallery for our upcoming abstract landscapes show, Living in Another World.

The show brings together around 40 artists from all over the country to show us the world we know and love through an abstracted lens.

Register now for our opening celebrations of Living in Another World - Saturday 20 April, 2-4pm.

Ahead of the show, Montanna told us about the inspiration behind her work in the show Get outside kids and the warmth and freedom she hopes viewers feel from viewing it.

How would you describe your work?

“Since a young age I have enjoyed portraying the Australian landscapes through my paintings. I love bringing them to life through creating a sense of warmth and colour which engages viewers.”

Tell us about where and how you create your work?

“I use acrylics and oil pastels and my technique includes free style brush strokes with mixtures of colours to add depth and warmth to the paintings.”

What inspires you?

“My work in the show, Get outside kids, was inspired from childhood memories of growing up on acreage in the beautiful Bolwarra Heights. My mum’s property was surrounded by trees, kangaroos and the mountains in the distance.”

“I love the way the landscape creates a sense of freedom and serenity. We were never the type of children to be stuck inside watching television, we were told “get outside kids” go enjoy the fresh air, go play in the dirt - as long as you’re having fun, that’s all that matters.”

What do you hope people feel when they see your work?

“I hope people feel a sense of warmth and freedom when engaging with this painting. It makes me want to go camping or on a road trip to be surrounded by the beautiful nature within Australia.”

Living in Another World runs from 19-28 April at Tyger Gallery in Yass. The online catalogue for the show will go out to subscribers in the week before opening. Sign up here to make sure you don’t miss out.
