Chris is a photographer living in the Southern Highlands, NSW. He started his professional career as a photographer and gained experience across a wide range of disciplines.
Over recent years, part time art and photography studies with international mentorship groups introduced Chris to a range of new photographic techniques. These techniques enabled him to express more effectively what he saw in the world around him.
While Chris enjoys many different styles of photography, creating abstract images has been his primary focus for several years.
Of course, every photographer needs an assistant. Billy, a West Highland Terrier, was Chris’s constant companion for over 16 years, and while he never learnt much about photography, he certainly knew how to make Chris laugh every day.

“Reflections on water are unique and endlessly fascinating, not least because they’re a product of time, light, season, wind and the photographer’s point of view.”
“These ephemeral images exist only for the instant the camera shutter is opened. However, the works are not simply the product of figurative images taken of reflections. I spend time watching and waiting as the images form and transform while the water movement and all the other variables interact.”
“From the resulting images, the editing consists only of cropping to the optimum composition and optimise sharpness, noise and resolution.”
“All of the 42 South Collection was shot from the wharves and pontoons in the small inner harbour of Hobart.”
Chris Sutton, 2024.
