Living and working in the beautiful foothills of Adelaide from her home studio, Greta creates colourful, abstracted artworks exploring the interconnected ideas about nature and humanity. Her surroundings, with its undulating hills and closeness of bushland, subtly inform the paintings, drawings, and collages she creates.
Exploring ideas of play, chance, and risk-taking, Greta takes an experimental and intuitive approach to her studio practice; rarely are paintings pre-planned. Rather, careful attention is paid to the process of painting itself with each additional mark, colour or shape informing the next move, until a conversation begins to form within the work with the overall aim to create a sense of ambiguity suggestive of multiple pathways through the work (and life).
Her love of colour and shape informs each canvas with numerous layers of opaque and translucent paint, building up a story through the composition with fortuitous ‘happy accidents’, moments of clarity and cohesion all purposefully visible.
Greta has a Bachelor of Visual Arts (2005) / Bachelor of Visual Arts, First Class Honours (UniSA, 2010). Her work has been in several national art prizes including the Omnia Art Prize, Lethbridge 20000, and the Kennedy Art prizes.

“Dusk explores the liminal time when the light is shifting and the world feels different, perhaps more open to possibilities. This work is one of my Dream State series in which I explore the landscape through a psychological lens.”
